Rose Hill senior Dawson McNaul has a pretty full schedule, both during the school year and in the offseason. If you don’t find him in the weight room with his teammates, you can probably find him watching film, or even playing basketball. The two-sport athlete has been a two-year starter for the Rockets, and he’s excited for his senior year.
“The thing I am most excited for this upcoming season is to go to battle with my teammates one last time. We are a very tight knit group” McNaul said, “I can’t wait for us to come out week one and be able to show everyone how hard we’ve been working these past few months.”
Rose Hill started the 22-23 season 0-3, but rebounded to win 4 of their last 7, including a first-round playoff win. Despite earning an all-AVCTL honorable mention honor, and only allowing 2 sacks all season, McNaul is not satisfied, citing his run blocking as an area where he can improve.
“I felt like the area I needed improvement the most was my run blocking. I felt it was the weakest part of my game last year so coming into this offseason I knew that the two big parts to my struggle were my footwork and strength”, McNaul mentioned. He also noted that he has individual goals that he is striving for, but that team success is more important. “A few personal goals of mine are to be named captain and make all-league 1st team and make all-state, but more importantly as a team, win league and regionals.”
