Andover Central’s Jayden Joy – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by K. Westphal Jewelry

Andover Central’s Jayden Joy has had a busy summer in preparation for the upcoming season, but it hasn’t stopped him from putting in a lot of work to improve. The Jaguars made it all the way to the state title game two years ago, and while their 7-4 season last year would have been a success for some teams, Joy has his eyes on more.

“For the team, I’d really like to see us back at the championship game. We did really great last year, but I know we were just at the championships the year prior and I fully believe we will get there again this year,” Joy said. Even with a full-time job, he managed to work very hard in the offseason, including extra conditioning.

“This summer, my big motivation was speed […] I spent a lot of time at the Y, jogging my neighborhood, and swimming to reach my goals,” said Joy, adding ” I also had the opportunity to attend OU’s summer camp in June, which was spectacular.” At that camp, despite standing only 5’10 1/2″, his wingspan measured 15th out of 65 campers.

Asked what his individual goals for the season were, Joy had lofty aims: “This season I want to focus on doubling my tackles.  I know that’s a big goal but you can’t win big if you don’t dream big!”

Andover Central opens their season on 9/1 at home vs. Buhler.
