Andover’s Logan Warkentine – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Shelter Insurance, Jodi Ocadiz

By Hayden Swope

Andover’s Logan Warkentine had a standout sophomore season, and the first team all-league linebacker returns for the Trojans. Warkentine is ready to get back out there, and is excited to see the team’s hard work pay off.

“I’m most excited about playing another year of varsity football with my best friends under Friday night lights,” Warkentine said. “I live for the pressure of those moments and I can’t wait for September 1.”

When football isn’t in season, Warkentine is working and training with other coaches and teammates in other sports, staying in shape all year.

“Besides football, I wrestle, run track, and play rugby,” Warkentine said. “All of these sports make me a better athlete and enhance my football skills during the summer. I lift and practice with my team. I also attended multiple football and wrestling camps.”

While staying busy with multiple sports and athletics, Warkentine still found time to make goals not only for himself, but for his team.

“This year I am wanting to improve my number of sacks,” Warkentine said. “This past offseason I’ve practiced on my hand fighting, getting off blocks, and edge rushing. Some goals that I have for the team is to finish the season with a better record than last year, and go deeper into the playoffs. One goal I have for myself is to be a better leader for my team.”

Only a junior and with two more seasons left, Warkentine is still figuring out what his future holds. However, he does hope to continue his athletic career at the next level.

“I’d like to play football at the next level but I’ll see what opportunities arise,” Warkentine said.
