Andover’s Ryan Kice – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Shelter Insurance, Jodi Ocadiz

By Hayden Swope

Ryan Kice, a football player at Andover, was a second team all-league player for the Trojans. While the season hasn’t been in Andover’s favor, Kice is still optimistic about the rest of the year.

“The season is not going as we had planned but I think our guys are making the best of it and we are still improving each week,” Kice said.

While preparing for the season started early, the work never stopped for Kice.

“My preparation for the season consisted of weightlifting and practice with the team over the summer, along with individual field and weights work,” Kice said. “I also practice with two of my teammates at the field quite a bit.”

A big game for the Trojans is quickly arriving, and Kice has hopes that the team will show up to play.

“We have our rivalry game against Central this week (Oct 7), and we are already working hard to prepare for it.” Kice said.

Kice’s most memorable moment so far has been a well fought game against Maize South High School, and it’ll be one that he remembers forever.

“My favorite memory so far is the first half of our first game of the season against Maize South,” Kice said. “We were all making plays and there was lots of confidence and excitement for our team.”
