Rose Hill’s Trent Chickadonz – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Mike Garman

For Rose Hill senior Trent Chickadonz, the offseason featured scrimmages with his teammates and drills to improve his ball-handling and shooting. The focus on ball-handling dovetails nicely with one of his goals for the upcoming season. “My personal goal this year is to try and make it on the all time assist board for Rose Hill,” said Chickadonz. As far as a team goal, he is aiming high, stating “as a team our goal is to dominate against every team and win State.”

Chickadonz said the beginning of the season has gone well, and Rose Hill is preparing to open its season strong against Arkansas City. Rose Hill started last season 2-5, but rebounded to post an above .500 record at 11-10. With back-to-back 15 win seasons prior to last season, the program has a recent tradition of success, one that Chickadonz is ready to help continue.

Chickadonz said his best accomplishment is starting as a junior and being trusted to guard the other team’s best player. He will no doubt draw many of those same tough assignments in his senior season.

When asked what he loves about his team, Trent mentioned the camaraderie both on and off the court. “My favorite part about my teammates is that we all get along super well. We’re all like brothers to each other, we hangout and go to the movies and have game nights so it’s a fun team to be on,” Chickadonz said, before adding “But the best part about my teammates is that on the court we all get each other. Like we all have the same mindset on what each player on our team is good at and knowing those things helps us get everyone on the team to be successful on the court.”
