VYPE got to sit down with Rose Hill senior Cheyenne Martin and learn more about her.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals for this year are to increase my shooting percentage from the outside range and secure some more wins compared to previous years.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I have had in the last year is getting to know my teammates more as the chemistry between us is just amazing. We all share the common goal of improving while maintaining a healthy atmosphere for growth.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher would ultimately have to be my coach, Ms. Page, as I have taken at least one of her classes each year of high school and gotten the opportunity to form a great bond with her.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is from sophomore year when one of our teammates threw herself in the bleachers to save a ball.  We all thought she was seriously injured until she popped right back up and began playing. She was soon subbed out to ensure she was okay.  Although this was a funny moment, it showed how our coach instilled the idea of pushing through for the sake of the team.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

A graduate from last year, Jessa Lee, has been the most impactful teammate of my high school basketball career as she has been my biggest role model. I learned many important skills for our shared position while being able to play with her. She continuously put in work on and off the court to improve the team and herself, and I strive to be the player she was every game and practice.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My absolute favorite part of being on a team with my fellow Rockets is the energy and commitment we give each other.  We are constantly picking each other up on the court while also challenging one another in order to get better.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

The top place I would pick for vacation in summer would be Italy.  I would take my great-grandfather where we could share our love for Italian cuisine while taking in the views. Hopefully a decent carb load of pasta.

VYPE: If we gave you $1,000 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

If I had $1,000 to spend in the next 24 hours, I would spend it on some great Christmas gifts for my friends and family as it is right around the corner.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

The main community service I contribute to is fostering animals to help the growing number of strays while expanding my veterinary experience to reach my goals.
