Q&A with Andover’s Gabby Reynolds – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

VYPE got to sit down with Andover volleyball’s Gabby Reynolds and learn more about who she is.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals for this year would be to break the season kill record. It’s a pretty big task but I think with my amazing setter and libero I could have a shot at it this year.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I’ve had in the past year would have to be just at practice. We do themed practices and recently the theme was the USA. My friend and I dressed up as the founding fathers and I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a while.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My favorite teacher would have to be my physics teacher, Mr. Ross. He is quite possibly the funniest teacher at our school. He also makes sure his students understand the lesson.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory would be my junior year when we were going up against Andale. They have a huge outside and she went in for a 3 without a block up, and the middle at the time, Megan, just stood there and it ended up hitting off of her shoulder onto the other side and she got a kill.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

I think that the teammate that has left the biggest impression on me would probably be my setter. It’s not easy playing five games in a row in a 5-1, but she always keeps up a positive attitude and I really admire that.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being on this team would just be the team chemistry. We don’t have any drama and that’s something I really appreciate. We all get along together well and when we have the momentum in a game the energy just becomes electric.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

If I could go anywhere on a summer vacation I think I would go to Thailand. I’ve seen all of the pictures about the beautiful mountains and I would love to visit there one day. I would probably take along my best friends, Alana and Cate. They are always so fun to be around.

VYPE: If we gave you $1,000 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

I would probably spend 1000 dollars in a bookstore. It sounds kinda boring but I would love to just go on a spree in a Barnes and Noble. I love to read and I love to buy books so I think it would be a win-win.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

Currently I am participating in a couple of community service programs. I volunteer about twice a month at the Kansas Humane Society. I also volunteer at a homeless initiative every other Thursday. The goal of the initiative is to provide healthcare to those without insurance. It’s a really neat program and I love it!
