Rose Hill’s Payton Jackson – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

Rose Hill senior volleyball Payton Jackson is coming off a season where she amassed 147 kills and a .095 hitting %, after recording 72 kills and a .047% as a sophomore. Doubling both numbers is an impressive feat, but in her mind, there is always room for improvement.

“As a hitter you can always get better, I’ve been working a lot on controlling where I hit the ball whether it’s line or straight cross. I’ve also been working on my approach to become more of a power hitter,” Jackson said. In addition to those goals, Jackson says it’s the mental side of the game where she wants to improve.

“One of my individual goals for this season is to keep my head up when things get hard and to power through it for my coach and my team,” she commented. Her bond with her teammates is also something she says she is looking forward to this season- “What I am most excited for is my team, we have a really good bond and we all get along so well, it will be nice playing my last year of high school volleyball with all of the girls.”

When asked about the future, Jackson says she’s leaving her options open- “In my future I would really love to play college volleyball, it’s always been something I wanted to do and I want to make that dream come true for myself. For my career I’m currently undecided, I’m leaning to be a hygienist but I can always change my mind later on.”
