VYPE got a chance to sit down with Alexa Marshall of Rose Hill girls cross country and find out more about who she is.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goals for the year are to qualify for state in both cross country and track, maintain good grades, and to make the most of my senior year.
VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?
The most fun I have had over the past year would probably just be all the times I’ve hung out with friends or family members.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?
I think that my favorite teacher from any grade would have to be my middle school choir teacher, Mrs. King. She really knew how to make her classroom environment energetic and fun, while also keeping it a comforting place as well. She definitely made an impact on my life, even though she wasn’t one of my highschool teachers.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
I think my favorite athletic memory was when our 4×800 medaled at the state track meet last spring. We came super close to placing the previous year, and had spent that next season working to the goal of medaling at state, so it was super exciting when we achieved that goal.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is definitely Aubrie Thomison. She was a senior my freshman year, and immediately welcomed me when I didn’t know very many people on the cross country team. She has always been so supportive and motivating, and even continued to come watch us race after she graduated. I truly couldn’t have asked for a better teammate.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being on this team is how close everyone is, even with the coaches. We all get along so well, and try to make the most of our time spent together. Sometimes it’s just simple things like dressing up for halloween together, or having fun on the van/bus rides to meets. But also, everyone is so uplifting and motivating towards each other, which I love and am thankful for.
VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?
If I could pick anywhere for a summer vacation, I would probably either pick the mountains to go hiking, or the beach. I think that the mountains are beautiful, but the beach can be a lot of fun in the summertime. Either way, I would take a few of my close friends, and my mom.
VYPE: If we gave you $1,000 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?
If I had to spend $1000 in the next 24 hours, I would probably spend it on my mom and dad. They’ve done so much for me throughout my life, and that would be the least I could do for them with that money.
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
Our school does an activity during homecoming week called Community Service Day, Throughout this day, we go out into our community and do various projects that need done, whether they’re at specific people’s houses, local businesses, or on school grounds. It’s a really great way for us as kids to give back to our community, while having fun with classmates and teachers.
