Andover Central High senior Andrew Bolan, a fullback and tight end for the Jaguars, is taking a very simple, straight-forward approach to his senior season. Bolan and his teammates understandably share a very common focus, “Our goal for the team is a state championship. We have been close the last couple of years, so hopefully we can finally make it past that hump and get ourselves a ring.”
The Jaguars finished with a 9-4 record during the 2023 campaign, losing in the 4A state championship game to perennial state power St. Thomas Aquinas. Central returns a large host of senior players to this year’s squad, and while a state championship is the ultimate destination, Bolan is making sure that he enjoys this one last ride as a Jaguar, “I’m just looking forward to being back with my teammates. Being able to play my senior year with my friends is really important to me.”
As for what Andrew sees as his role with the team, he states, “I see myself contributing in any way that I can, whether that’s on offense, defense, or special teams. I just want to be out there on the field playing. As long as I can help get the team a win, I’ve done my job.”
Bolan, an Honorable Mention All ACTVL (Div. II) tight end, is not resting on his laurels. He has had a productive off-season that he believes will pay dividends in the upcoming months, “I wanted to put on a little more size so I could run through blocks. I worked a lot in the weight room. I worked on speed and agility, also, because while I wanted to bulk up, I still need to have enough speed when going on routes.”
Bolan is also a baseball player for the Jaguars and has been named Second Team All-AVCTL as a DH. Andrew has been equally successful in the classroom, where he boasts a 3.9 cumulative G.P.A.
When asked about his future, Bolan’s answer fell right in line with that simple, straight-forward approach, “Wherever the Lord takes me!”
